Group Health Insurance in Minnesota

  • Qualified applicants cannot be turned away for health reasons.
  • Life changes relating to family problems and job changes can affect opportunities for group health.
  • An employer can withhold group health coverage. In the case of a pre-existing condition, a new provider can impose an exclusion period for up to 12 months.
  • If continuous coverage is maintained with no breaks longer than 63 days, credit for the exclusion period on the pre-existing condition may apply.
  • A provider is allowed to review medical history for the six months prior to coverage.
