Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States
Rockville, Maryland calls itself home to Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of The Mid-Atlantic States, a subsidiary of Kaiser Permanente which covers over a half million policy holders in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. area with health insurance policies and health related services.
Having evolved from an industrial health care program designed for construction, shipyard, and steel workers in California in the 1930s and 1940s, Kaiser Permanente has come along way to the Mid-Atlantic states. In October of 1945, Kaiser opened its enrollment to the public and is today the leading provider of integrated health care and the largest HMO in the United States.
