Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBSAR)
In 1948, Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield was born, an Independent Licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and almost immediately became the largest health insurance provider in Arkansas. Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, combined with its affiliated companies, employ thousands of Arkansas residents. Arkansas BCBS, as a non-profit mutual insurance company now provides coverage to more than 387,000 policy holders (as of October 2008).
Based in Little Rock, Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield offers health insurance policies, doctors and hospitals, service and stability. The health of Arkansas is their top priority. To that end, they provide regional offices in Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Hot Springs, Little Rock, Jonesboro, Pine Bluff and Texarkana. It's no wonder that Arkansas BCBS has earned a rating of ‘A’ from AM Best (March 2009), and a Weiss Safety rating of A+.
